VIFA Asia - foosball tournament of the year.

Next weekend, the familiar foosball area in Breakers will be filled with unfamiliar people - the hustling Arab foosers, the Taiwanese strategizing in unintelligible mandarin, the Indian contingent of young proteges in their matching jerseys quietly observing the more experienced players, and our very own bunch of muhibah 1Malaysian foosers who know how to curse in all the Malaysian languages.
Foosers from Taiwan, Singapore, UAE, Canada, and India amongst others will be flocking together to participate in the biggest foosball tournament of the year, VIFA Asia. Not only will it be an interesting mix of skin colour, culture, and foul language, but also an unaccustomed encounter of different shots, passes, and playing styles for local foosers to adapt to. Nothing less than a great clash of grit and skill between the best foosers on the continent.
I am particularly looking forward to this tournament for a few reasons. First would be the experience of different emotions that come with a tournament - anxiety, nervousness, tremendous mental stress, sense of accomplishment, and of course the satisfaction of throwing the rod after firing an exploding snake shot. The challenge of overcoming these emotions and executing my game plan is more exhilarating than any other sport I have ever played. Second would be the companionship with my friends, partners, and opponents. Looking forward to seeing fellow foosers from across the causeway, as well as my new amateur doubles partner from Taiwan.
Ready your wraps people, its time for some good foos fun! If you don't foos, drop by Breakers in Hartamas next weekend to check out some good matches.

Pulau Pangkor
"Orang Pangkor ah?"
"Ya"
"Betul ah? Tak pernah nampak lu pun. Lu orang mana dekat Pangkor?"
"Itu Pasir.... Pasir...... Hitam"
"Pangkor mana ada Pasir Hitam. Lu mau tipu saya ah?!"
You see, Pangkor people get a discount on ferry tickets. Instead of RM10, they only need to pay RM6. This was a conversation between our infamous Ling Dao Wen and the ferry operator macha on our previous trip to the island.
We still managed to get the RM6 tickets but thanks to Dao, we were so humiliated. No such conversation this time round though, we paid RM10 in full and an additional RM4 for each motorbike we brought onto the ferry. Motorbikes are the best mode of transport in Pangkor. You can bring your own or rent them at the Pangkor jetty for around RM20-30 per bike.

Hoon Wah carrying precious cargo. Use low gear, don't skid!
When we got to Teluk Nipah, we found a Robinson Crusoe in boardshorts washed ashore.
He then proceeded to do a Baywatch run.

So THATS what they were all looking at.

Time for makan after first round of beaching.

Gayest pic I've ever taken with Giddy

Famous noodle place in Pangkor. Can't remember what it's called.

See the two posers in the background. Thought he was taking picture of us!
Group shot at second beach, after 15 minute hike into the jungle.
Spiderpig, spiderpig.
Had to climb even more to reach this peak.

Last ferry leaving Pangkor is around 8pm, so we had to say goodbye.

So romantic!
